Critical Animal Disease Control Programme (LH&DC Scheme)

The Livestock Health and Disease Control (LH&DC) Scheme is an initiative by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, aimed at improving animal health, enhancing livestock productivity, and supporting farmers’ livelihoods.

🐄 Objectives of the Scheme

• Eradicate PPR (Peste des Petits Ruminants) by 2030 through vaccination of all sheep and goats.

• Control Classical Swine Fever (CSF) by vaccinating the entire pig population.

• Provide doorstep veterinary services to farmers through Mobile Veterinary Units (MVUs).

• Support States/UTs under ASCAD (Assistance to States for Control of Animal Diseases) for prevention and control of livestock and poultry diseases.
