Plantation Crop Development Scheme, Meghalaya – 2025 | Eligibility, Benefits & Application Process

The Plantation Crop Development Scheme was introduced by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya to increase the cultivation area and production of major plantation crops such as Arecanut, Cashewnut, Coconut, and Pineapple. The scheme provides 50% financial assistance (subsidy) on the purchase of planting materials, polypipes, and for the construction of soakage tanks to improve water management and productivity.

  • To promote the growth of plantation crops in Meghalaya.

  • To enhance farmers’ income by supporting high-value crop cultivation.

  • To encourage sustainable agricultural practices through proper irrigation and resource management.


💰 Benefits under the Scheme

Type of Assistance:

  • 50% subsidy for the purchase of planting materials and polypipes.

  • 50% subsidy for the construction of soakage tanks for water conservation and soil health.

Pattern of Assistance:

  • Assistance will be provided for one year.


👩‍🌾 Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a resident of Meghalaya.

  • The applicant should be a bonafide farmer involved in agricultural activities.

  • The farmer must own or lease land of at least 0.2 hectares or more.

  • Benefits are available on a first-come, first-served basis.


📝 Application Process (Offline)

Step 1: Write an application on plain paper expressing interest in the scheme.
Step 2: Attach self-attested copies of all required documents.
Step 3: Submit the completed application along with documents to the nearest office of the Horticulture Development Officer under your CD Block or Horticulture Circle.

  • Bonafide farmers will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
