Floriculture Development Scheme – Meghalaya

Floriculture Development Scheme – Meghalaya 🌸

The “Floriculture Development Scheme” is an initiative by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya. The main objective of the scheme is to encourage farmers to adopt floriculture — both traditional and non-traditional flower cultivation — as a commercial and income-generating activity. Through this program, the government provides planting materials, inputs, and infrastructure support to boost flower production and enhance farmers’ livelihoods.

🌼 Key Benefits

1. Subsidy on Planting Materials:
Farmers receive high-quality flower planting materials at a 50% subsidy, helping them reduce input costs and improve yield.

2. Free Polyhouse Setup:
The scheme provides a low-cost polyhouse (minimum 100 sqm/unit) free of cost to help farmers cultivate flowers under controlled environmental conditions.

3. Input Support:
Farmers are provided with essential materials, including:

  • Organic fertilizers and micronutrients

  • Organic-based plant protection (P.P.) chemicals

  • Drip irrigation systems

4. Promotion of High-Value Crops:
The scheme motivates farmers to grow low-volume, high-value crops like flowers to increase their economic income and create sustainable agri-business opportunities.
