The “Mukhyamantri Rajya Krishi Vikas Yojana”, launched by the Department of Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry, Government of Uttarakhand, aims to promote comprehensive growth in agriculture and allied sectors, with a strong focus on modern sugarcane cultivation.
The scheme provides financial assistance and subsidies to sugarcane farmers, co-operative societies, and progressive cultivators for activities like seed production, transportation, pest and weed control, use of machinery, and fertilizer support. It is implemented by the Sugarcane Department in collaboration with G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, and other research centres.

Breeder Seed Production: Conducted at Pantnagar University with 25% autumn and 75% spring nurseries; ₹100/quintal subsidy provided (split for input cost and seed distribution).
Aadhaar (Foundation) Nursery: ₹50/quintal subsidy up to ₹15,000 for nursery establishment.
Primary Nursery: ₹25/quintal subsidy on seed distribution (maximum ₹10,000).
Field Demonstrations: ₹7,500 subsidy per farmer for demonstrating new sugarcane sowing technologies on 0.5 ha plots.
Seed Transportation & Harvesting: 100% subsidy on transportation of elite seed from research farms to buyers or councils.
Agricultural Equipment Support: Assistance for manually operated sugarcane machinery under the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization.
Seed Price Support: Subsidy on the actual cost of sugarcane seed purchased from recognized research centres.
Pest, Disease & Weed Control: 50% subsidy or up to ₹3,000/ha for crop protection.
Micronutrient & Bio-fertilizer Support: 50% subsidy or up to ₹1,000/ha for soil health improvement.
Farmer Training & Awareness: Awareness drives, scientific farming training, and soil testing at village and district levels.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
Must be a resident of Uttarakhand.
Must be a registered sugarcane farmer.
Co-operative sugarcane societies are also eligible.
Progressive farmers engaged in improved sugarcane cultivation can apply.
📝 Application Process (Offline)
Farmer selection is carried out at the Gram Sabha (village assembly) level through discussions with public representatives.
A survey is conducted by the Sugarcane Supervisor.
Final approval is given by departmental officers such as the Sugarcane Development Inspector, Senior Sugarcane Development Inspector, and Assistant Sugarcane Commissioner.
