An Accident Insurance Scheme

Overview

PMSBY is an accident insurance scheme that provides coverage for accidental death and disability due to an accident.

Key Details

Premium

• Amount: ₹20 per annum per member

• Payment Mode: Auto-debit from the subscriber’s bank or post office account

• Due Date: On or before 1st June each year

Coverage Duration

• Period: 1st June to 31st May (one-year coverage)

• Coverage is valid only upon successful premium payment.

Termination of Cover

The insurance cover will be terminated or restricted in the following cases:

• Upon attaining the age of 70 years (age nearest birthday)

• Closure of the associated bank account or insufficient balance for premium deduction

• If the member is enrolled through multiple accounts, the insurance cover will be restricted to a maximum of ₹2 lakhs

Benefits:

• In the event of death: The nominee will receive ₹2,00,000.

• In case of total and irrecoverable loss of:

  • Both eyes, or

  • Use of both hands, or both feet, or

  • Sight in one eye and use of one hand or one foot —
    The subscriber will receive ₹2,00,000.

• In case of total and irrecoverable loss of:

  • Sight in one eye, or

  • Use of one hand or one foot —
    The subscriber will receive ₹1,00,000.

Eligibility

• Age Limit: 18 to 70 years (age nearest birthday)

• Must hold a savings bank or post office account with a participating bank

• Must provide consent to join the scheme and enable auto-debit for premium payment

How to Apply

Offline Application

1. Visit the home branch of your bank or post office account.

2. Alternatively, download the form from the official PMSBY website:
   https://jansuraksha.gov.in/Forms-PMSBY.aspx

3. Fill in the required details and submit the form along with necessary documents to the bank/post office.

4. After successful submission, you will receive an Acknowledgement Slip Cum Certificate of Insurance.
